What to Expect
We are unable to treat patients (or prescribe medications) over the phone for a problem that has not been evaluated in person at our office. Many allergy problems have similar symptoms and require an examination for the most accurate and effective treatment.
When contacting or visiting our offices, please follow these suggestions:
- For routine calls, please call during office hours. Our receptionist will take your name, telephone number, and reason for calling. Your call will be returned by a nurse or physician as soon as possible.
- If you are sick, please call as early in the day as possible so that we may be able to squeeze you in to be seen that day.
- When you arrive at our office – whether it’s for an allergy shot or a doctor’s appointment – please remember to always print your name on the sign-in list at the front desk.
Our regular office hours vary by location. Please visit the appropriate location page for more information: Downers Grove, Elmhurst, Naperville, or Plainfield, Illinois.
In the event of a life-threatening medical emergency, call emergency medical services at 911 immediately. DO NOT WAIT! Inform the emergency room staff that you are a patient of Oak Brook Allergists, and they will contact us.
If you have an urgent medical need and need to talk to our doctors after our regular hours, please call your primary care physician. If you cannot reach your PCP, you may call our office at (630) 574-0460. A doctor is on-call 24 hours a day. Your call will be returned promptly.
At Oak Brook Allergists, we accept Medicare and most major insurance plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna and Humana.
Please contact your insurance company or you may call our billing department at (630) 574-0463 to find out if we accept your plan.
If your insurance plan requires you to pay a co-payment, co-insurance, and/or a deductible, you will need to pay at the time of your visit. For your convenience we accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.
If you have a question related to your bill or insurance, please contact our billing specialists at (630) 574-0463.
If your insurance is an HMO/managed care plan and you are required to obtain a referral from your primary care physician, the referral must be obtained before you can be seen for an office visit. Please coordinate this with your primary care physician in advance. Appointments will be rescheduled if required referrals are not received in the office by the time of your visit.
Doctors at Oak Brook Allergists have hospital affiliations with:
- Edward Hospital
- Elmhurst Hospital
Prescriptions and refills for established patients of Oak Brook Allergists are routinely issued during our regular office hours. Visit the appropriate location page for its hours: Downers Grove, Elmhurst, Naperville, or Plainfield, Illinois.
You can make your request by calling our office at (630) 574-0460. Please call before you run out of medication. Make sure you have your pharmacist’s phone number when you call.
Refills will not be called in if you have not seen the physician within the preceding three (3) months.
Refills also will not be issued during the evenings, weekends, or holidays, as the doctors may not have access to all your medical records during those times. It is helpful to anticipate your refill needs to avoid an interruption in your medication therapy.
